Co-Founders, Keith and Alex, had named their respective home breweries ‘Headless’ and ‘Mumby’

‘Headless’ is a salute to the song “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner” by Warren Zevon, of whom Keith is a rabid fan.

‘Mumby’ is a reference to a defunct logging and shingle mill from the early 1900s which operated in the area Alex now lives.

Once Keith and Alex had made the fateful decision to join forces and open a brewery, they were faced with the daunting task of naming it. They decided, what better way to represent a truly collaborative effort than to unite the names of their home breweries? And, so it was.

Combined, the name ‘Headless Mumby’ is a slight nod to the Pacific Northwest lumbermen from days past who often had to organize and strike against greedy corporate heads… or whatever.

While Keith is no longer a part of day to day operations he still pops in from time to time. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to seeing what he creates next.

Mission & Code of Conduct

Headless Mumby Brewing Company represents the intersection of tradition and creativity.

Our seven barrel brewery focuses exclusively on brewing craft lager beer and is one of only a few independent breweries in the nation that does so. Specializing in styles that are often underrepresented in the modern craft beer movement, our lagers range from the traditional German styles to more modern Pacific Northwest-inspired variations.

We chose this path because these are the beers we love to brew and drink, and we are confident that passion will come through in the product.

Along with producing an exceptional product, we feel the only way to achieve our goals is to first succeed in the local community.

We value rigorous process, quality raw ingredients, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for our patrons to enjoy a beer.

We believe that excellent beer is not only our path to success, it is the driving passion behind the work we do.

At Headless Mumby Brewing Company we value and respect our employees and patrons and want to set a clear code of conduct for all members of our community enjoying our lagers and our space. We are committed to providing a harassment free environment for everyone regardless of their status or presentation.

We at Headless Mumby Brewing Company will not tolerate harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity and expression, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, age, physical appearance, or body size. This policy applies to employees of Headless Mumby Brewing Company as well as patrons and vendors of our establishment. Violations of this policy will not be tolerated.

There are laws to protect individuals from unwanted or harassing behavior but we also understand that our company culture will be defined by the worst behavior we are willing to tolerate and with that in mind we want to be clear that having a safe and comfortable experience for all is our goal. We will not tolerate any unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices or practices, discrimination, bullying or intimidation, inappropriate social contact, threats or incitement of violence, or any behavior that is in direct violation of our company’s core values. 

Employees of Headless Mumby Brewing Company must adhere to this code of conduct at work and whenever they are representing the brewery. If they feel uncomfortable when representing the brewery, whether it is at an event or an account, Headless Mumby Brewing Company will support the employee in whatever way they need. 

Employees that do not adhere to this code of conduct will be given one warning to improve their behavior, if the behavior is not improved the employee will be terminated. Certain behavior has zero tolerance and if an employee is found to have engaged in that sort of behavior they will be terminated immediately. 

Customers of Headless Mumby Brewing Company should also feel safe in our facilities. If a customer is experiencing inappropriate behavior or behaving inappropriately we will do whatever we can in our power to rectify the situation. Any customer or vendors that do not adhere to our code of conduct when on our premises will be asked to leave. Please inform our beertenders or staff of any behavior you witness that violates our code of conduct.

Process

Headless Mumby Brewing is one of very few lager-only independent breweries in the country. We brew a combination of both classic styles and modern day creations inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

Our year-round offerings are brewed with 100% premium malt and 100% premium hops. Our house lager yeast is intended to be fairly neutral in order to highlight the balance of malt and hops. Our lagers undergo a lengthy fermentation process at cold temps before being transferred to serving tanks.

Headless Mumby Brewing deviates from other breweries in that we serve our lagers fresh and unfiltered. Our beers will change a bit in flavor and clarity as they age, and you can enjoy them throughout this process. Our lagers are served in ½ Liter amounts in mugs with a larger capacity to allow for ample headspace above the beer.

We are making the beers we love and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
